Andrew Rush Podcast II

Andrew and I have been pals for years. We met at Recycled Records on Haight Street way back when and our lives musically and otherwise have overlapped ever since. When he told me he was moving to Vancouver to study wildlife, I had no choice but to get him in the ring for Podcast Mac II at the Argus Lounge. I looked forward to trading vinyl punches with Andrew and was not disappointed….. After the bell rang, Andrew came out swinging, and set the pace with a steady mix of 7” treasures from the Rush vault. Andrew had the slight advantage as he grew up in Cincinnati and came from like a family of sixteen kids—his ever expanding collection of singles dates back to his big brother who worked for a King record distributor in Ohio in the 60’s and brought home one-off’s by the dozen. Where else can you listen to James Cleveland, The English Congregation, Los Gibsons, Brenda Patterson, Mud Boy, Jim Bakus and more? Go to Chuck’s Corner for a full track listing and click here to dig up the MP3 audio bone. Something for everyone. As Porter Wagner said in the Wino: Maybe you’ve loved and lost or maybe you’re lost and unloved. Either way, we trust you’ll take comfort in this audio transmission served up raw from the depths of cyberspace. Enjoy, CP

This just in from the home office somewhere between Memphis & Stonehenge: Chuck Prophet and Kelley Stoltz the new Podfathers of soul?

Not bloody likely! However, no vinyl was sacred as our two wannabe DJ’s, Chuck Prophet and Kelley Stoltz faced off on the wheels of steel the other night at the Argus Lounge in San Francisco in the first of a series of time delayed live Podcasts from the ring. The main event was simple: Chuck and Kelley to flip a coin—the loser goes first. Strictly vinyl. At 8:30 sharp, Kelley dropped the needle on mystery song number one and Chuck had 3 minutes to dig out a follow up from his personal crate. Back and forth they traded vinyl punches into the wee hours. At CP inc. they have buried the mythical info-tainment experience on the web like a 136 megabyte bone that you can dig up and gnaw on. Intimate as a car crash; downloaders will hear in one corner Kelley spinning out anglofied folk while in the other Chuck fighting back with some deep fried southern soul. Go on and dig it yerownself. The result is a gut-level, revealing exploration of pain and hard-won wisdom, relevant even to the most casual observer of game.
