Mark Mallman

Just gotta say, I'd recommend people get to the venue in time to see Mark Mallman's opening act. Never seen anything quite like it, and I was sorry I missed the first half (I'll be on time next Friday). Funky, funny, and he had this great Elton John 17/11/70 vibe going (or 11/17/70 as it's known across the pond). Great stuff.

Borderline gig

Hey Chuck, great show as ever last night. Really liked the guitar work on 'Monkey' and the new arrangement of 'Summertime'. Had to rush off - sorry not to say 'Hi' but hope to make it to the Bedford gig. Almost (but not quite!!) a home gig for us!

Hi Paul Thanks for the message. There'll probably be a carful of us going to Bedford so best to go independently, I think. Maybe see you there. Are you a long-time fan of Chuck? We first came across him in the late 80's in Green on Red - saw them at the Borderline in 91. Dave

hi dave - yes, i go back a way - with GOR i think the Powerhaus in Islington was the first time for me ! then Town and Country Club, a pub in New Cross when scapegoats was released. CP I have nearly seen many times, i think the first was @ the borderline some years ago, and in 2003 - got some great live cd`s from another fan in usa recently - if you fancy doing some swops - not for profit!! - e mail me - cant wait for the Bedford gig - paul; and sue

The only live stuff I've got is Homemade Boot and Turn the Pigeons Loose - both excellent. My wife and I are big fans (me more than her!!) - we're ageing rockers, I'm afraid - 50+ ! - our son, who plays in a band himself, is a real huge fan as well. We saw a go go Market gig at Mick's Lounge in San Francisco about 6 years ago and had a good chat with Chuck afterwards - a great guy. Incidentally, I saw Chuck at the Mean Fiddler in about 93 and his support was David Gray!!! With the right breaks Chuck could (and should!) be a lot bigger.

Borderline show

Fantastic show tonight at the Borderline. Amazing performances of a shedload of the recent material, with a few nice surprises: loved Chuck's finger-picking on the revamped Summertime Thing, and nice to hear quite a bit of pedal steel action (though I thought it was a little too low in the mix, as were Stephie's keyboards). Highlight for me was an unexpected Abandoned Love with the longest extended intro ever! Looking forward to the show in Winchester next week. Chuck, if you ever read these things, I was the lucky recipient of your Catholic blessing :-)

gig in bedford april 21st the shed

Hi Chuck and Stephie, i am very much lookig forward to seeing you at the shed in Bedford. My husband and i saw you at the Borderline in London in 2003.Great gig. Since i saw you last i have had cancer and now in remission. I was wondering if you would play a very big favourite song of mine. I asked you at the borderline gig but you didn't play it.You did sign the cd sleeve of 'no other love' for our daughters, who are 8yrs and 11yrs who especially like the 'raisns in the sun'album. I was wondering if you do things like naf requests.I would love for you to play 'no other love'.Cheers Sue p.s. Stephie is there going to be more from 'Go Go Market ? Very much hope so.

Chuck in Bristol

Drove up from Exeter last night to see the gig. Funny venue (and a pain in the arse to find - thanks AA Routefinder for the scenic route) but a great show. Last saw Chuck on the Feast of Hearts tour at Glasto (that's a while back) but have been raving to the wife about this gig for weeks. She loved it too. Shame no 'Homemade Blood'.

so you are to blame for the cheese in an otherwise perfect sandwich of rockin country. That song took the gig right off the boil and it took a while for the heat to rise again.

Bristol Bonaventure gig

The Church of Chuck pulled in to town and played another stormer last night in Bristol. Support, Mark Mallman (and Pete), were fab and funny at the same time - get there early. Great show from CP and the Mission Express, two hours with encores. Couple of covers; Styrofoam and Stephanie,s gorge vox on Walk on by. Oh and there's a great CD for sale, 'As seen on TV'. Take an extra tenner to buy one, 250 copies; great sleeve, great band, great music.

Chuck was awesome in Bury last night 11th April. Watched him at the Preston Adelphi in '97. What a performer Homemade Blood still my fave. Just a class act on and off stage, an inspiration to music lovers.
