King Tut’s Wah

I enjoy reading everyone's comments about the shows. I feel like I'm right along there with you. I'm also trying to educate myself on the different venues. I am the reluctant homebody, a machine, if you will. So who else has played @ King Tut's Wah (sounds like a mystical place, mummies and the Wah and all that)? Radiohead and Oasis. This is the kind of place where A&R agents hang out. Let's hope some real music fans will dominate the place and show Chuck & the Mission Express some love. Someone who's going there please give us a word. Thanks. They are going to hear genuine music tomorrow. The vegetarians, breatharians and meat lovers unite.

I agree T-Bone...would be great to have a document of this current tour. There's bucket loads of footage from this recent tour on youtube and even with the quality not that great it still shows how flamin' and a rockin' Chuck and the Express are playing on this outing...so just imagine what some professional footage/recording would be like! I wouldn't be surprised if the ones you mentioned and others get the professional recorded treatment eventually ...'Shake some Action' for example is kinda turning into the joint anthem of this tour along with 'Temple Beautiful' (The Title Track) This UK visit has really been breathtaking stuff!

Praise @ The Maze ( Nottingham Gig)

A sold out gig greeted Chuck and the Express tonight to start the 2nd leg of their UK tour. The Great little venue and great atmosphere created from the shoulder to shoulder crowd probably made it feel like a 'homecoming' gig!.."Welcome back to the UK Chuck!" you're second home! ;) They strutted through faultless performances yet again of 'Temple Beautiful' tracks (The title track deservedly getting an especially good response..Man,what a great song that is!)as well as older favourites like 'Look Both Ways' 'Storm across the sea' 'Balinese Dancer'...a high octane version of 'Automatic Blues' and an Acoustic segment again featuring Stephie doing a cool version of 'Count the days' and Chuck doing 'Would you love me' and 'Summertime Thing' During the latter Chuck called out 'Anyone play guitar?' and in a flash a lucky guy gets up and plays out the rest of the song on Chuck's acoustic while Chuck himself entered into yet another episode of fretboard dynamics. By the close of the set we'd received hilarious banter, fantastic performances and even audience participation...Yep, Chuck is back in town!..and he and the Express are armed with relentless offerings of great music and performances once again. They are really Kickin serious ass and then some!

Absolutely right, I didn't think Winchester could be bettered but the tight venue & diamond formation Mission Express squashed onto the stage definitely put Nottingham on the map...highlights for me were my first live airing of 'Play That Song Again' & the encore - a monster version of 'Fear...', finishing with 'Always a Friend'. Faultless.

Brighton gig was so good I drove up from Guildford for the Notts show. Stunning performance by everyone! Certainly makes Spain sound an interesting proposition - now where's my work diary?

I'd never heard any of the music before. So my good friends Dave and Jon took me to see him at the Maze. What can I say ..... AMAZING ! It's been a long time since I've seen such a performer. Musically excellent but the overall atmosphere generated by this guy was truely wonderful.

Seen your show in Groningen. You've got beautiful songs. liked your Willie Mays song. Been to the Giants in New York last year. But that is not important. Please keep on making that fine music. H. From G.

Roepean

Agreed. Chuck Prophet, Friday, Eliza Gilkyson, Sunday and Matt the Electrician, Sunday. This is a cool club in this town with a tiny population. [Nerd Alert] They even have their own Saint, Saint Norbert of Gennep. [being chocked and gagged now]

Amsterdam

Looks like it's 48 degrees F and rainy there. Hope you can find some good eats. We have a food place here in DC called Amsterdam Falafel and it's pretty good. Stay warm and dry.

Den Trap Kortrijk

Great performance yesterday in Den Trap in Kortrijk. Great to have seen you, so good you come to small clubs like this too. Actually never been so close to an artist, really at arms' length (being in the front row). My teenage daughters loved it too!

Record Store Day Kizmet

Went to a local record store on Saturday that I rarely shop. Elizabeths in Columbus, OH. Great shop but a bit out of the way for me. Owner was doing 20% off and out of habit, I checked the P section for some Chuck (I ALWAYS find nuthin') and lo and behold, a nice copy of "The Hurting Business"!!! I buy it and a couple nice Joe Ely albums and as I'm leaving, I get an e-mail from Chuck about RSD! Weird.

Autobahn

Thinking of that Kraftwerk song, since you're over there. Bon, Bon, Bon with the Autobahn. No, I don't think so. Any speed of 20mph is pretty scary.
